Broken Bird
This rich and disturbing tale delves into the life and mind of Sybil Carmichael. Sybil is a quiet, creative soul with unusual hobbies of taxidermy and poetry. She works in a funeral parlor and has a peculiar fondness for the deceased, as they seem to understand her.
At the age of ten, she experienced a tragic accident that took away her beloved family, leaving her with a deep sense of loneliness. While her hobbies provide some solace, her poetry and vivid imagination only offer temporary escape from the harsh realities of her lonely life. As reality slips away, Sybil's dark desires become more insatiable, and her fascination with the dead takes a disturbing turn. In a horrific climax, she finds her own kind of happiness and contentment with the deceased.
Rebecca Calder delivers a masterful portrayal of Sybil, capturing all of her quirky and unsettling behavior.
She is supported by the talented James Fleet, Sacharissa Claxton, and Jay Taylor. Director Joanne Mitchell, a seasoned horror storyteller, has crafted a beautifully creepy rendition of a tormented mind spiraling into madness, maintaining a firm grip on performance, story, and style.
